Sound man/Cellist
Diane Kelly
Diane began her musical journey playing the acoustic guitar and singing, Influenced by the work of artists such as Neil Young she was driven by a desire to play the iconic harmonica solo on Young's "Heart of Gold," Diane picked up the instrument and was immediately captivated. What began as a goal to learn a single song evolved into a dedicated passion. Since then, she has expanded her repertoire beyond her folk rock roots, mastering the intricacies of blues and rock harmonica.
Harmonica/Guest Singer
Guest SingerFrank Duffy
Frank’s love for singing started in his early teens, growing up in the boroughs of NYC in the ’50s and ’60s, listening to the street-corner Doo Wop groups and Rock and Roll bands. He formed his own a cappella group, Track Side Gents, singing lead and performing at house and garden parties. We were all drafted into the U.S. Army in 1968, but unfortunately not to sing.
Twenty years later, after raising a family and building a busy career, he was introduced to Barbershop music with a Long Island men’s group, where he sang for six years. He also performed with his quartet, Absolute Harmony, and later joined The Big Apple Chorus in Manhattan. They performed at many venues, including South Street Seaport, Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, the Mormon Tabernacle, as well as many local libraries and senior venues.
After 30 years, the quartet went into retirement. Then Joe Riotta asked if I would sing some of the oldies with his band. Coming out of retirement, I am so proud to be part of such a talented and fantastic band.
Saxophone/Flute Samantha Rose
Samantha is a NY born and raised musician, educator, and repair technician. Samantha started off with playing flute at a young age. But it didn't stop there. After many years of playing flute, Samantha picked up new instruments to learn and perform. It led her to graduate with a Master's in Performance with the concentration in Woodwind Doubling. She has performed professionally on flute, clarinet, saxophones, and bassoon in many types of performances. She takes her knowledge and experience and brings that to her teaching. As a NYC DOE teacher, she started a brand new band program for her school and over many years it has grown to be a big program that many students enjoy. In more recent years, Samantha wanted to learn about woodwind repairs as it has always been an interest for her. She started the apprenticeship with Craig Lindsay and continues to repair instruments for his shop. Samantha's style is shaped by so many different musicians, but when it comes to playing flute, she will always rock out to the music of Ian Anderson.
